Cellular polycarbonate (PC)

The ideal material for lightweight roofs and durable enclosures

The material

Cellular polycarbonate: lightness, insulation and durability for roofs and enclosures

Cellular polycarbonate is an engineering plastic widely used in construction applications, enclosures and roofing. Its honeycomb structure gives it excellent insulating capacity and outstanding impact resistance, with a much lower weight than other plastic materials. At Plásticos Ferplast, we specialise in the supply and machining of cellular polycarbonate sheets, available in different thicknesses, colours and formats. We recommend this material for projects where a combination of durability, lightness and energy efficiency is required, such as roofs, facades or skylights.

Technical properties of the material

Lightweight and strong material

Honeycomb structure that combines low weight with excellent impact resistance.

Thermal and acoustic insulation

Its internal chambers effectively reduce heat and sound transmission.

UV and weather resistance

High resistance to ultraviolet radiation and atmospheric agents.

80% light transmission

Allows natural light through with minimal distortion.

Easy to machine and bend

Can be cut, bent and machined with standard tools.

Fire-retardant performance

B1/M3 classification according to European fire behaviour regulations.

Ideal for roofs and enclosures

The go-to solution for terraces, greenhouses, industrial buildings and sports centres.

Frequently asked questions about cellular polycarbonate

A cellular polycarbonate sheet is a panel made up of multiple layers joined by internal ribs that create a honeycomb structure. This design provides lightness, strength and insulating capacity, making it ideal for enclosures and roofing.
Cellular polycarbonate combines strength, thermal insulation and low weight, making it an excellent alternative to glass or acrylic in roofs and facades.
Yes. We offer made-to-measure cellular polycarbonate, with cutting, machining or thermoforming adapted to the design and dimensions of each project.
Maintenance is minimal: simply clean the sheets periodically with water and neutral soap to maintain transparency and remove residue.
Yes. The sheets include UV protection on one or both sides, preventing yellowing and ensuring a long service life even in high sun-exposure environments.
