Delrin (POM)

The engineering plastic with the highest dimensional precision and mechanical stability. The perfect alternative to metal for high-precision parts with demanding tolerances.

The material

What is Delrin?

Delrin, technically known as POM (polyoxymethylene) or polyacetal, is one of the most in-demand engineering plastics for precision applications. Its extraordinary dimensional stability, high hardness and rigidity, low coefficient of friction and excellent machinability make it the preferred material when maximum dimensional accuracy is required part after part. At Plásticos Ferplast we supply Delrin (POM) sheets, rods and tubes in various formats, and we manufacture custom Delrin parts through 3- and 5-axis CNC machining. With over 70 years of experience in technical plastics, we guarantee the best material and machining quality for your most demanding projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Delrin (POM) has greater dimensional stability, does not absorb moisture and is more precise. Nylon has better impact resistance, greater self-lubrication capacity and can operate at higher temperature ranges. For high-precision parts, Delrin is preferable; for wear parts with impacts, nylon.

There are POM grades with food contact certification. Contact us to ensure you specify the correct grade for your application.

With quality CNC machining, Delrin allows tolerances of ±0.01 to ±0.05 mm depending on part geometry and required surface finish.

Black Delrin incorporates UV stabilizing additives, making it more suitable for outdoor applications or exposure to light. Natural (ivory) is the standard grade for indoor mechanical applications.

Yes. We provide material conformity certificates for applications that require them, such as medical equipment, aeronautics or defense.
